World Book Day - 3rd March 2017

On Friday saw the children arrive at school dressed as their favourite character from a story book. They had the opportunity to take part in activities around a chosen book linked to the work covered in English lessons.

Class one were working on activities designed around ‘The Room on the Broom’, ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and ‘The Gruffalo’s Child.

Class two designed aliens based on the book ‘My Brother is a Super hero’. They used a selection of different materials to create their image then described what it was like. Some of the children also created a comic book strip based on a story they knew with a twist.

Class three were working on their book ‘We are all Born Free’.

The parents were invited to join children in a reading café where they had the opportunity to read and enjoy a cuppa too. Afterwards they were invited to visit the class and join in with the children making and experiencing the fun that was had by all.

The Friends of Runcton kindly served tea, coffee and soft drinks along with their lovely homemade cakes. They looked really yummy and were greatly enjoyed by those who came to visit. The Friends raised and amazing £138 by the sale of their refreshments on the day. All proceeds were raised and donated to the Breast Cancer trust.
