Runcton Holme C of E Primary

Learning Together for Life

Cluster Music Festival - 23rd June 2017

Yet another adventure for the children of class one both at Wormegay and Runcton Holme. The children and staff travelled to Nelson Academy to join with other infant classes from the Downham Cluster.

Once off the bus and settled in the hall our leader for the morning Mr Pace was introduced and we all sat in excited silence waiting for the new tunes and songs that we would learn, this year all about animals was the theme. We began by singing one of the songs we had learnt altogether, ‘The shark and the tiger and the crocodile’. Next Mr Pace taught us a song about meeting animals on the way up the hill to Buttercup farm, using input from the children we soon picked up the words and sang along. Just before break we sang nursery rhymes about animals to which Mr Pace added an interesting twist, animals jumping, throwing and rolling out of the window!!!

At break the children had a chance to mingle with others from different schools, meeting friends from out of school activities, having had a drink and snack we were ready to return to the hall.

After break we could give our voices a little rest as we listened to the songs prepared by each school, Runcton Holme sang ‘There was an old lady who swallowed a fly’ whilst Wormegay sang ‘All the animals’ (a favourite of Mrs Waterson’s from the Come and Praise books).

To end the morning we sang ‘Silly Aunt Sally’, another rehearsed song to share with the group.

The children all sang well and both staff and children enjoyed the morning. We returned back to school just in time for lunch.

Thank you to Nelson Academy for hosting, Mrs Jack for organising and Mr Pace for leading the event, we are looking forward to next year!
