OMNES Games - Volleyball (Class 3) - 16th March 2017

After a taster session on the 9th March at school, class 3 went to Lynnsport to enjoy an afternoon of fun volleyball games.

The class was split into two teams and were given a 10 minute warm up to refresh their memories on how to play. They were then called to the volleyball court along with the other schools attending, Wimbotsham, Magdalen, Whitefriars, South Wootton and St Germans.

Each team had the opportunity to play against each other. The afternoon was all about learning new skills and trying a new sport so no scores were kept. As there was an odd number of teams, children got to enjoy finding out who had the quietest serve speed. All the children tried hard to beat each other. Team 1’s best speed score was 32 by Harrison Brant and team 2’s was 35 by Harry Davison.

After all the teams had played each other, the game changed with the introduction of extra-large beach balls rather than the small ones that had been used so far. The children were very excited at this point and played well, with Tom and Emilija showing great return of the ball, and Zack and Alisha having great serves.

Once back on the bus the children told us what they had learnt and what they had enjoyed during the afternoon:

Harry learnt – ‘How to work as a team and not keep the ball to ourselves’.

Alisha learnt – ‘How to serve and how to get the ball higher over the net’.

Carl – ‘I learnt how to play volleyball’.

Amy enjoyed – ‘the speed test’.

Tom enjoyed – ‘using the large beach balls’

Well done to all of class 3 for working so well as a team and for being great sportsmen/women.
