Learning Together for Life

Class 1

Welcome to Class one

Class one have Miss Winters as their Teacher and Mrs Stokes as the Teaching Assistant. The class is made up of 18 children incorporating Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The class also has Miss Thorne our HLTA, Mrs Stokes and Mrs Witt Teaching Assistants who take the children for one session of PE each week. A further PE session is delivered by Miss Winters and Mrs Stokes.

We plan our learning around the interests of the children, in order that they learn through play and our guided curriculum. The older children have a guided curriculum, that follows the National Curriculum guidelines, which we thrive to make as interesting and fun as we can.

The class is designed to provide continuous provision for the children with activities they can access both indoors and outdoors. Recently the outdoor area has been re-developed with new equipment that allows the children to make progress in a safe and inviting atmosphere.

We aim to make links in different curriculum areas to develop a cross curricular theme. Enabling the children to make links in all areas.

Reception children
Our new members of the class are settling well and enjoying their learning experiences. Mrs Stokes and I are busily gathering evidence from what we see and hear the children say and do during their time in school. We are constantly amazed by what we see and hear.

Autumn Term 2

During this half term our main learning focus is about Where in the world we are. We will begin with the bigger picture of the world, then our country and the countries which make up the UK. Finally, we take a closer look at Norfolk and what makes it a tourist attraction, including the links with historical Kings Lynn and our locality. Our Science unit will continue and build upon what we have learned in the previous term. The children are learning about themselves and animals and how they fit into particular groups, including what we are like on the inside investigating our skeletons while making comparisons to some familiar animals.

We have invited parents to come into school for our Reading Café recently with a theme around Remembrance. The children will be made contributions to our whole school display reflecting our thoughts about the day and what it means to us today. If you have anything to share with us on this day your contributions are most welcome.

May we thank you for your contributions to your child’s Learning Journal so far they have made for interesting reading so far. Please look out for our next newsletter.
