Learning Together for Life

Throughout the year the children access the library from which they are able to borrow books.  They are able to access it throughout the school day to support learning within class and on a Monday lunchtime, where the older children support the younger children in choosing books should they wish to borrow one.

The ethos behind this is for the children to be able to access a wide range of books from different genres; this will hopefully encourage the reading of books both on their own and with parents/carers. Sharing and taking about what is happening or predicting what might happen also helps with their progress.

Even though the younger ones may not be able to read the text, sharing a book, looking and discussing the pictures with their parents/carers has a positive impact.

There is also the opportunity to sit quietly and read.
