Class One is a small and friendly group of children, we have a large classroom and an outside area. The children enjoy learning through experience and we often use practical activities as a stimulus for our learning. We have a large range of resources and the children are encouraged to be independent when using these – selecting what they feel will help them learn most effectively.
We love to sing and use movement and music to teach across the curriculum – from story talking in English, singing our tables and using song to help us remember tricky dates and information in Science, History and Geography.
We enjoy learning together and are often led by the children’s interests – guiding and shaping the topic that we have selected as the term progresses.
This term our topic is ‘Ourselves’ – we will be learning about where in the world we live, the history of our school, exploring faces in art and DT and looking at Christmas songs old and new in music. In English, we are looking at stories with familiar settings – inspired by Autumn and rhyming poetry. In Maths, we will focus our learning on securing methods to add and subtract and move onto shapes as the term nears its end.
